Bio

K.D. Smith is a California state licensed acupuncturist, and a board-certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She has a combined twenty years of clinical experience as an acupuncturist, public health professional and nursing assistant.

 

Her wide range of clinical experience is accumulated across three continents and within multiple facilities: orthopedic; internal medicine; addiction and recovery; community; maternity; skilled nursing and a spiritual center.  She has worked and collaborated with medical doctors, traditional healers (shaman, hilot) physiotherapists, midwives, chiropractors and nurses to benefit the health and wellbeing of patients.

 

K.D. creates an environment that is safe, open and authentic holding each patient with the utmost care and compassion. Her medical training and master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was received from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California.  K.D. obtained her master’s degree in public health from BRAC University, James P. Grant School of Public Health, Bangladesh.

Description

The most well-known and practiced modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine is an effective and natural form of health care used by many people from diverse cultures and social backgrounds. The process involves very fine (hair thin) sterile needles be inserted into specific acupuncture points along the meridian channels of the body to clear blockages, strengthen or relax organ systems, and/or expel pathogens to encourage a return of normal energy flow within the body.
